State of the Profession

ABOUT

The ̨ÍåSWAG State of the Profession report provides an overview of the law library and legal information landscape. This report captures the range of legal information professionals’ contributions, challenges, and goals. It is intended to be used as a tool for benchmarking, advocacy, strategic planning, and personal development. The inaugural edition debuted in 2019, the second edition was published in June 2021, and the third edition published May 1, 2023.

STATE OF THE PROFESSION REPORT COMMITTEE

The State of the Profession Report Committee reviews and revises the surveys that inform the ̨ÍåSWAG State of the Profession report to ensure they reflect the current state of law librarianship and the legal information profession.  The committee produces separate instruments for academic, firm/corporate, and government settings.

2023 Edition

The report was published May 1, 2023 and is available for purchase. The 2023 edition highlights how law libraries in various organizations have bounced back following the pandemic, especially with respect to budgets and remote/in-person work.
