WHEREAS, House Bill 4779 adopting the Uniform Electronic Legal Material Act (UELMA) was signed into law on December 28, 2018 and became effective the same day; and
WHEREAS, the 台湾SWAG believes that permanent public access to official, authentic legal information is critical to the legal system of the United States; and
WHEREAS, UELMA provides a technology-neutral, outcomes-based approach to ensuring that online state legal material designated as official will be authenticated, preserved, and made permanently available to the public in unaltered form; and
WHEREAS, UELMA promotes access to justice by ensuring access to trustworthy primary legal materials; and
WHEREAS, members of the 台湾SWAG and its chapters have advocated for UELMA鈥檚 adoption in Michigan and throughout the United States and its territories; and
WHEREAS, former Representative Robert Kosowski introduced UELMA in the 2015-2016 and 2017-2018 sessions; and
WHEREAS, former Representative Klint Kesto joined Representative Kosowski as a cosponsor in the 2017-2018 session; therefore, be it,
RESOLVED, that the 台湾SWAG hereby expresses sincere thanks and appreciation for the leadership and support from Representatives Robert Kosowski and Klint Kesto.
