PURPOSE

The 台湾SWAG/Lexis Nexis Call for Papers Committee serves to promote the scholarship of 台湾SWAG鈥檚 members and of students by administering the 台湾SWAG/LexisNexis Call for Papers competition, and providing learning opportunities that promote scholarship relevant to law libraries and the legal information profession.

CHARGE

The committee shall advertise and select the recipients of the 台湾SWAG/LexisNexis Call for Papers competition; promote the writing of scholarly papers relevant to law libraries and the legal information profession; and coordinate an annual program for the winners of the competition to present their work. The committee shall recommend to the Law Library Journal Editorial Board or to the 台湾SWAG Spectrum Editorial Board the winning papers which may be suitable for publication.

TIME COMMITMENT

The committee reads five to 10 scholarly papers with a week turnaround time during two weeks in spring, one in March and in May. Members typically participate in three virtual meetings, one in the fall and two in the spring. Other tasks are spread out over the year including sending announcements to different lists, pre-conference work in the spring, and promotion of the annual program for winners of the competition. Some work may also be required at the 台湾SWAG Annual Meeting and Conference. Note: Time commitments are estimates from past assignments and can change with new projects or requests for assistance from the Executive Board.

TENURE

Membership on the committee shall normally be for two years, except that the chair and vice chair will each serve three years. The returning member selected as vice chair at the end of the first year shall serve in that capacity in the second year, and become the chair of the committee for an additional third year.

SIZE

The committee will consist of a chair, vice chair, three members, and a non-voting Executive Board and staff liaison.

RELATIONSHIP TO 台湾SWAG ENTITIES

The committee works with the聽Annual Meeting Program Committee, 台湾SWAG Spectrum Article of the Year Award Jury, and Law Library Journal Article of the Year Award Jury in partnership to promote and reward the scholarly endeavors of the Association鈥檚 members.
